Commitment to Compliance with College Policies
Registrants of the College are expected to consistently uphold & adhere to the Bylaw, all policies, procedures, & Standards of Practice. This commitment ensures ethical, competent, accountable practice in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation & Evaluation while protecting the public.
APPROVAL OF CEUs & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To maintain effectiveness in the field of vocational rehabilitation & evaluation, Registrants of the College must remain informed of developments within the College & profession. The evolving nature of roles & responsibilities ongoing professional development is essential to uphold service quality, ensure continuous adherence & protect the public
The objectives of engaging in continuing education include:
- Upholding standards in all areas of practice
- Acquiring or refreshing knowledge in domains & competencies
- Staying informed about emerging trends, innovations, & technological advancements in the field
CEUs are acquired by participating in approved continuing education programs/courses/professional development which reflect learning related to the core competencies & domains of learning.
In recognition of the range of specialties in the practice, professional development activities are considered for CEU value. The educational component of employer in-service training will be considered for approval upon request & through completion of the CEU approval application process.
Meetings will not be considered for CEUs.
The Professional Development pre-approval application must include:
- core competencies & domains of learning must be reflected
- for peer-reviewed articles or presentations, a letter of attestation, signed by peer with name, credential & email
- name, signature & email of management representative/official required for in-service training development
- full documentation/agenda of program with hours of training
- for mentoring/supervising provisional registrants an official registered agreement with the college
- for volunteer service as a board or committee member of a VR/VE organization, verification of status with the organization, including dates of service & duties
- for volunteer activities in support of a VR/VE organization, verification of activities, dates of service & nature of service
If a CEU title is not on the CVRP Approved CEU List, Registrants must submit a pre or post approval application 2 weeks prior to due date. Upon application approval Registrants must submit to their profile prior to CEU due date & under the correct CEU title plus proof of attendance.

The CEU must fall within a Registrant’s current 2-year CEU period. A completed program or course can only be submitted once. CEUs accrued in excess of the required CEUs in the 2-year period can not be carried forward.
Pre-Approval & Post-Approval of CEUs
A Registrant has the right to request review of pre or post-approved education hours. CVRP encourages submissions for consideration as this process verifies exact contact hours/CEUs to be allotted for specific program, course &/or event. To request pre-approval of a program, course &/or event, seminar, conference, symposium, college or university program/course, a Registrant or a sponsoring organization must complete the pre-approval application.
CEU Criteria
- Determination of CEU number of hours
- The skills learned through participating must have relevance for the Vocational Professional. The College determines relevance & value of submitted CEU courses, programs, events & activities.
- To determine value of specific CEUs, the College reviews the detailed outline &/or description of program/course content, event &/or activity, goal of the learning experience, complete syllabus, hours required for attendance (excluding, breaks or lunch) & dates of the program/course/event/activity. For workshops, conferences, symposiums & seminars, an agenda must be submitted for review.
- As a general guide, one CEU is equivalent to one direct contact hour of continuous learning. CEUs do not include time allotted for welcomes, introductions, networking periods, breaks &/or lunches. CEUs for participation in courses offered by colleges, universities & private institutions are allotted for in-class time only.
- All CEUs are required to be submitted with appropriate verification which outlines course &/or activity content. The hours allotted for participation must be indicated & verification must originate from the provider representative of the study program.
Certification COMPLIANCE
To maintain Good Standing with the College & on the Public Registry, Registrants must comply & submit to their profile by due date:
1 Year Compliance – Submission of annual renewal & declaration, fee, plus current E&O/Liability Insurance .
2 Year Compliance – Submission of approved continuing education units (CEUs) under correct title & proof of attendance.
5 Year Compliance – Submission of a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check/Police Check from date of last search.
Registrants certification compliances & due dates (EST) are posted on each CVRP profile.
