International Certified Vocational Evaluator, ICVE
Scope of Practice
International Certified Vocational Evaluators have the specialized expertise to conduct comprehensive assessments & provide forensic services for assisting in the determination of benefit entitlement or quantifying financial losses related to vocational impairment, earning capacity, work capacity, employability, placeability as well as residual vocational capacity & avocational-related losses. Registrants with this specialty possess a unique set of knowledge, experiences, skills, as well as the ability to determine strategies & to administer, score & interpret psychometric tests and/or work samples in providing vocational evaluation services, as confirmed via the College’s certification & exam process.
The ICVE exam includes questions on statistics & statistical analysis. The college advises candidates to refresh their knowledge in this field.

ICVE Eligibility & Application process

The ICVE online exam with virtual proctoring is available. The exam is divided into two 2 hour sessions. It is a competency examination based on VE, consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions. An applicant must sit the exam within 1 year of application submission. A minimum grade of 70% is required. If exam rewrites are required (up to 3 rewrites) fees are payable to CVRP, online exam provider, & virtual proctor. Applicants that require a rewrite after the 1 year application submission expiry must complete each exam rewrite within 3 months.
1. Application & fee, includes exam (up to 3 exam rewrites). Fee is non-refundable. Fee Schedule; &/or
1.1 Canadian Certified Vocational Evaluator, CCVE in good standing & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.2. Certified Vocational Evaluator, CVE (obtained prior to 2009) in good standing, submit 2 redacted reports for peer review/receive approval & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.3. Certified Vocational Evaluator, CVE (obtained prior to 2009 and lapsed 2015 or later), show evidence of continuing education/keeping current in the field during lapse (on average 20 CEUs per year), submit 2 redacted reports for peer review/receive approval & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.4. Certified Vocational Evaluator, CVE (obtained 2021 or later), demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the field of VE under the supervision of a CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or a registered Psychologist, along with job description(s), submission of completed Employer Verification Form(s) confirming above-noted experience; or if currently self-employed, Verification Forms completed by CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or registered Psychologist that provided supervision, submit 2 redacted reports for peer review/receive approval & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.5. International Psychometric Evaluation Certification, IPEC in good standing, demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the field of VE under the supervision of a CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or a registered Psychologist, along with job description(s), submission of completed Employer Verification Form(s) confirming experience; or if currently self-employed, verification forms completed by CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or registered Psychologist that provided supervision, submit 2 redacted reports for peer review/receive approval & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.6. American Board of Vocational Experts, ABVE in good standing, demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the field of VE under the supervision of a CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or a registered Psychologist, along with job description(s), submission of completed Employer Verification Form(s) confirming experience; or if currently self-employed, Verification Forms completed by CCVE/CVE/ICVE/ABVE or registered Psychologist that provided supervision, submit 2 redacted reports for peer review/receive approval & successful exam minimum of 70%; or
1.7. No Credential; &
2. Submit proof of citizenship, copy of government issued identification.
3. Education transcripts. CVRP accepts soft copies but reserves the right to request originals; &
An applicant achieves certification upon the following:
4. Successful peer review of work products; &
5. Successful exam minimum of 70% (up to 3 exam rewrites) within 1 year of application submission; &
6. Initial, first year registration fee within 60 days of successful exam. Fee Schedule; &
A Registrant profile is created &/or updated on the Public Registry, to display certification status(s).
Registrants are granted a 4 to 6 weeks grace period to submit:
7. Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC)/Criminal Police Check (PC) & Error & Omissions (E&O)/Liability Insurance
ICVE(P) ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION PROCESS
The College has developed a provisional pathway for Applicants who do not meet ICVE criteria.

1. Application & fee, includes exam (up to 3 exam rewrites). Fee is non-refundable; &/or
1.1 Applicants that have met all the eligibility requirements for ICVE certification except have less than 2 years of full-time employment working in the field of VE. They may write the ICVE certification exam & upon successful completion enter into a Mentoring Supervision Agreement with the College. The credential ICVE(P) will be conferred onto to the Registrant &, upon completion of all requirements under the Mentoring Supervision Agreement Registrants will be granted full ICVE status. Registrants will be permitted up to 36 months to complete the mentorship of the provisional process by obtaining the 2 years of VE experience; or
2.1 Applicants who have met all the eligibility requirements except are not able to demonstrate competency through peer review of work products may write the ICVE certification exam. Upon successful completion shall enter into a Mentoring Supervision Agreement with the College. The credential ICVE(P) will be conferred onto the Registrant &, upon completion of all requirements under the Mentoring Supervision Agreement these Registrants will be granted full ICVE status. Applicants will be allowed 24 months to complete the mentorship of the provisional process by being able to demonstrate competency through peer review process of their work products. During the mentoring supervision process, the provisional Registrant can use the ICVE(P) credential. During the provisional phase all their ICVE related work must be supervised & peer review/signed by an ICVE or CCVE or a statement included that the work was reviewed by a CCVE or ICVE (name of CCVE or ICVE indicated) to ensure standards of practice were followed. Once the provisional Registrant has successfully completed all mentoring criteria the Registrant will be granted full ICVE credential status & can perform ICVE related work independently; &

The ICVE(F) classification has been developed to recognize individuals within the field who have achieved higher levels of professionalism through post graduate study &/or maintenance of other recognized related professional designations.
The ICVE(D) classification recognizes senior practitioners at the highest level of professionalism within the field of vocational evaluation who have made significant contributions through education, professional development & professional contribution activities.
