March of Dimes Canada (MODC) is a leading national charitable organization that has helped more than six million people living with disabilities across the country for more than 70 years. Our services include, but are not limited to, Aphasia and Communication Disabilities, Brain injury, After Stroke, Attendant Care Services, Home and Motor Vehicle Modification, and Recreation and Integration programs.

In addition, our Employment Services division serves approximately 12,000 clients annually. The Rehabilitation and Clinical department within the division provides a comprehensive range of specialized assessments and rehabilitation services focusing on the unique and complex needs of people with disabilities. Approximately 1,000+ assessments are conducted yearly to help evaluate clients’ capacity for work, as well as assist with vocational and rehabilitation planning. These assessments may be utilized to facilitate a return-to-work, assist with the determination of eligibility of benefits, as well as support career exploration and goals setting.

Profile

At this time, we are seeking qualified Vocational Evaluator & Rehabilitation Assessors to conduct psycho-vocational assessments with injured workers.

Duties

·        Administer psychometric tests and interview workers.

o   Conduct vocational (VOC) assessments independently.

o   Conduct psycho-vocational assessments (PVA) with the supervision of our MODC in-house psychologist or other psychologist you prefer, to identify alternate occupations with consideration of physical precautions and other restrictions, abilities, aptitudes, personality, cognitive testing (PVA only) and taking into consideration interests, education, occupational history and transferable skills.

·        Report writing

o   Write up relevant parts of an assessment report with results from testing and structured interview including generating a list of suitable occupations based on the results of the assessment and determination of level of training for the worker. This will be informed by the National Occupational Classification, Job Bank and The Career Handbook. Include labour market research and occupational recommendations to identify suitable occupational options based on education, experience and physical level of functioning. Regional travel within your area for in-person assessments to our March of Dimes offices is required.

Qualifications

●       Post-secondary education program in Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation or another related field

●       Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC), Canadian Certified Vocational Evaluator (CCVE), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE), Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) designation of five years is preferred working as a Vocational Evaluator or Rehabilitation Professional

●       Excellent oral and written communication and people skills

●       Ability to quickly adapt to and accommodate workers’ needs

●       Proficiency in computer ability, and familiarity with various software platforms

●       Must carry Professional liability insurance

●       Maintain a safe and secure home-based office

●       Access to a vehicle is required

Compensation

Subcontracting (the fees per assessment will be discussed at the time of signing the agreement with the selected assessors).
