Fierce + Sober A Discussion About Gender Based Violence

On June 2, 2022, you’re invited to an eye-opening, ground-breaking discussion about mental health and gender-based violence – hosted by EHN Canada.
“My entire life I used alcohol to manage my anxiety. I really thought I had successfully overcome my anxiety, but I was really just living in a cycle of being drunk or being hungover,” says Calgary-based drag and gender-performance artist, Anne Xiety. If their name wasn’t a dead giveaway that Anne Xiety’s has faced their share of mental health struggles, their frank and funny conversation with EHN Canada’s Jeremy Houston should do it. “A lot of people with anxiety and depression approach me and want to chat…and I think that’s cool!”, Anne says.
We are also joined by Leah Marshall, Sexual Violence Prevention Advisor at Fanshawe College, to talk about gender-based violence and why a gender-based treatment facility for trauma, mental health, and addiction might be the right choice for some people.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Define gender-based violence and how it pertains to the LGBTQ+ community
• Discuss the trauma that is often associated with gender-based violence and resources available to survivors
• Understand the hardships members of the LGBTQ+ community face when seeking out programming options for mental health and addictions
Date: June 2, 2022 – 12pm ET, 9am PT
Duration: 1-hour
Cost: COMPLIMENTARY
