Ross Skirda – known affectionately as Roscoe, Uncle Buddy, and Dad – was the kind of person who filled a room with warmth and laughter. His laugh was contagious, especially when it was at his own jokes. He treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. He demonstrated integrity in his work and had a rare gift for making everyone feel special and heard.
On February 28, 2025, at the age of 57, Ross left us far too soon, but the love and joy he brought into the world will never fade.
A devoted father, Ross was deeply loved by his daughters, Madison (Cole)Peck and Taylor (Paul Bertrand) Skirda. Through sports, music, movies and humour, he built a bond with them that was unbreakable. They could not have asked for a better father – his unwavering love and the memories they created together will remain with them forever.
Ross was also a loving son to his parents, Denise and George Skirda, and a caring brother to his sister Monique (Sam) Roumanes. He also had a special relationship with his nephews Matthew (Kristi)Chuipka and Georgie Roumanes and his sweet niece Eleni Roumanes. In his younger years, he excelled both academically and in hockey, bringing the same energy and determination into everything he pursued. Ross was highly respected in his professional career as a forensic employability expert and advocate of people with disabilities. For over 25 years, he ran a successful vocational rehabilitation business alongside his ex-wife and lifelong best friend, Melissa. Although separated, they maintained unwavering support of one another.
Above all, Ross valued his family and friendships. He found joy in deep conversations, shared laughter, days at the cottage, and the unconditional love of his late dog, Kobie, and granddog, Mojo. No matter what life threw his way, Ross always showed up for the people he loved. His kindness and unshakeable spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Ross’s memory will live on in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known him.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
